Members of New Hampshire's Jewish Community are remembering the lives lost in the October 7 terrorist attack. Approximately 1,200 people were killed and 251 people were taken hostage when Hamas terrorists attacked people during a music festival in Israel.
To mark the day, the Jewish Federation of New Hampshire screened a documentary about the day and the aftermath called "October Shadows." There were showings in Manchester and Portsmouth.
"I think that's important for us to come together and remember what actually happened.", said Erik Martin, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of NH. "And we can and do come together as a community that's resilient."
In Keene, members of Congregation Ahavas Achim gathered for a service. They heard from a member of the community, Daniella Yitzachak. She reflected on her recent trip to Israel.
"You can't fathom it, but, you know, you go to the corner market and somebody has a flag in front because their son was killed.", she said. "And you see these stickers everywhere, each one with a story."
